HIGH PERFORMANCE CEMENT-BASED SCREEDS

Installing a cement based screed is a simple way of covering an existing floor substrate to provide a sound sub floor for subsequent floor finishes such as carpets, vinyl flooring, laminate or hardwood flooring.  It may also be required as a final wearing finish in industrial premises which have a variety of traffic levels.

The screed can be used to improve uneven concrete surfaces to meet design tolerances for the installation of coverings or for instance, to level traffic aisles to allow safe and smooth operation of high reach forklift trucks.

Screeds can be laid as:

  • Un-bonded onto a suitable damp proof membrane
  • Bonded direct to the substrate via a suitable bonding agent
  • Floated onto a layer of rigid insulation.

Proprietary cement based bagged screeds are available in many types such as:

  • Self-levelling or smoothing screeds laid from 2mm to 20mm. These are generally used as underlayments for further finishes and under floor heating.
  • Self-levelling and pumpable industrial traffic grade screeds for both internal and external use, laid at 5mm and above.
  • Fast setting and rapid hardening traffic grade screeds which allow use quickly. The general thickness of application is greater than 10mm.

Examples from our range of screeds are shown below.

Self-levelling Underlayment Screeds

Sika Level 25 a ready to use latex modified cement based self leveller for floor smoothing and preparation of uneven internal floor prior to the laying of floor finishes.

Febflor Ultralay a 2-20mm ultra high strength, rapid setting, abrasion resistant cement based powder, which when mixed with water, can be used to level out uneven floors and screeds. May be overlaid with common floor coverings or may be left as a final wearing surface.

Self-Levelling Wearing Screeds

Ultrafloor Level IT Top and Ultrafloor Level IT Base a cementitious self-levelling floor topping designed for warehouse and industrial floors when rapid strength gain and durability are a high priority. It can be pumped up to 2000m2 per day with an application depth of 5mm-15mm, providing a highly durable floor covering that is quick and cost effective to apply. Internal use only.

Mapegrout SV a fast setting and hardening screed mixed with water to produce fluid or highly fluid consistencies. Used to reinstate eroded concrete in heavily trafficked areas. 10- 50mm plus.

Ultratop Industrial an ultra-fast setting, abrasive resistant self-levelling mortar suitable for internal industrial environments.

Febflor Ultralay a 2-20mm ultra high strength, rapid setting, abrasion resistant cement based powder, which when mixed with water, can be used to level out uneven floors and screeds. May be overlaid with common floor coverings or may be left as a final wearing surface.

Emaco Fast Fluid a flowable, fast setting and hardening, bedding and repair mortar. 10mm up to 150mm depths achievable. Suitable for rapid reinstatement of large areas.

Ultratop Loft F a stunning decorative 2mm coating for interior floors, steps, and walls. Due to it’s ease of use, versatility and abrasion resistance it is ideal for the creation of floors in pedestrian areas, shops, restaurants, and hotels

Fast Setting Traffic Grade Screeds

Ultracrete FTC a high strength, fast set concrete, suitable for small and large section reinstatements to car parks, airports, warehouses and bridge decks. With an initial set of 1 hour, the product can accommodate depths from 10-50mm (up to 100mm in pockets).

Mapegrout SV a fast setting and hardening screed mixed with water to produce fluid or highly fluid consistencies. Used to reinstate eroded concrete in heavily trafficked areas. 10- 50mm plus.

Paveroc a 12mm - 100mm floor repair and screed reinstatement mortar. Long open time for large area screeding. Open to traffic in 12/24 hours.

Emaco Fast Fluid a flowable or fluid, fast setting and hardening, bedding and repair mortar. 10mm up to150mm depths achievable. Suitable for rapid reinstatement of large areas.
